Course Details

National Hunt:
Left-handed oval course with the last 4 furlongs uphill all the way. Fences are generally fair but the open ditches are wider than usual.

By Car:
The course is a mile from Cheltenham town centre. Take the A40 or M5 to Cheltenham and follow the AA signs to the course.

By Train:
Cheltenham Spa station links with a bus service direct to the racecourse.

Many well known characters have spent time at this Grade II* listed building drawing inspiration from its stunning architecture and location including Oscar Wilde, Claude Monet, Edwin Abbey, John Singer-Sargent, William Morris and Edward Elgar. Built in c1320, the house is fully centrally heated and each en-suite bedroom provides the latest modern amenities. All rooms include as standard Queen size four poster or twin beds, flat screen TV, DVD player, bottled spring water, tea/coffee making facilities, cotton sheets, bath robes, hair dryer and toiletries.

BRIEF HISTORY

Abbots Grange is believed to be the oldest dwelling in Broadway and one of the oldest domestic/monastic properties in Worcestershire, built during the early part of the 14th Century as the summer manor for the Abbot of Pershore.

It is considered by the Institute of Archaeology to be one of the most important and best preserved English monastic manor houses with a rich and fascinating history. The house is catalogued and the architecture described in Pevsners ‘The Buildings of England’.

Medieval in origin, the monastic manor house with its ‘Old English’ antique furniture and artworks and ancient oak beams is set in 8 acres of parkland grounds and gardens. Secluded, yet only 2 minutes walk from Broadway’s ‘picture perfect’ village high street with its delightful array of independent boutique shops, restaurants and inns.

We are able to provide a flexible package for the week, including as required, full service formal dining in our candlelit, panelled dining room and Champagne receptions in the Great Hall.

Helicopter facilities at Abbots GrangeThe property has its own helipad and the race course is a short circa 5 minute flight. Air transportation can be arranged via ‘Rotormotion’ with their fleet of six Agusta 109 helicopters. Luxury chauffeur driven transport to and from Cheltenham Racecourse is also available.
