The Little Theatre Cinema

- St Michael’s Place, Bath, BA1 1SF

You will find The Little Theatre Cinema in St Michael’s Place at the end of Bath Street and close to the Abbey,  built by community theatre pioneers in 1935, it retains the charm and warmth of a 30s cinema, including an auditorium balcony.

The Theatre offers quality film performances from around the globe, The Little Theatre has been at the centre of entertainment in Bath since the 30’s. Performances for the general public are on every day throughout the afternoon and evening. The Little Theatre shows films for over 50’s and also for parents and babies, a successful and well run kids club is available on Saturday afternoons.

The Little Theatre combines art deco styling and offers the customers the perfect cinema experience, showing mostly arty, foreign, and independent films. The Cinema was built by community theater pioneer Consuelo de Reyes (actress) and her stage designer husband, Peter KIng, in 1935. Having already created a community arts centre nearby, she wanted a small theatre which could also be used as a cinema. This quaint picture house has two screens for your viewing pleasure. The theater has seating in screen one for people with limited mobility.

Interesting Fact

Haile Selassie, the exiled Emperor of Ethiopia, came to the cinema to watch newsreels of the invasion of his country by Italian forces in 1936.

Bath Pavilion

- North Parade Road | Bath | BA2 4EU | 01225 486 902

Bath Pavilion is a stunning sandstone building that was first opened on 17 September 1910 as The County Skating Rink, when a roller skating craze was sweeping the nation.

Bath City Council bought the building in 1930 and on 28 November the venue was re-opened as a concert hall named The Pavilion by the Mayor of Bath, Alderman Sturge-Cotterell. It has had a wide range of uses in its time - from being an assembly point for aircraft wings during the second world war to holding a civil wedding today.

The Pavilion as a multi-use leisure venue plays host to a large range of events including concerts, exhibitions, dances and corporate, charity and private functions for up to 1,400 people.

The Pavilion is a great venue for music concerts and some of the great names that have played on the stage include Led Zepellin, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Adam Faith, the Rolling Stones and Little Richard.

In more recent years the Pavilion has played host to Oasis, Blur, Beautiful South, Levellers, Doves, Streets, Starsailor, The Coral, Supergrass, Jimmy Carr and Lily Allen, to name but a few.

The Pavilion is owned by Bath & North East Somerset Council and managed by the charity,Aquaterra Leisure.
