A guide to some of the region's top outstanding educational establishments across the Cotswolds.
Finding the right school for your child is a serious business and can seem like an overwhelming task. There’s so much information – from inspection reports to online forums, league tables, open days and the local parent grapevine.
While glossy brochures are a good way of getting across a school’s unique selling points, canny parents look beyond glitzy marketing to the curriculum, facilities, teaching staff and core values. Pastoral care and discipline are vital areas to quiz a school about, and its bullying policy will often give an insight into how it views its responsibility to pupils.
In terms of curriculum, language provision is improving all the time. Even the smallest prep school now offers more than just French. Spanish is a favourite and while many senior schools already teach Mandarin or another Asian language, others will offer it during a lunchtime session or after-school club.
We list here some of the top schools in the Cotswolds as a starter for making that all important decision where to send your children.
