Gowers Close is an ancient thatched and beamed cottage in a charming village in the North Cotswolds with large windows looking out onto a glorious garden. Antique furniture, crackling log fires in the inglenook fireplace, walls covered with books and pictures, a grand piano, a sunny terrace under the wisteria for summer breakfasts; a perfect recipe for a relaxing weekend.
There are two pretty bedrooms, one king sized double and one twin, each with a bathroom en suite and tea and coffee making facilities.
They both look out onto the garden and in the summer, wisteria and roses vie with each other to poke into the windows and look at the guests.
Your hosts are John (tall and very amusing) and Judith (great cook, music -lover and garden writer), and welcoming committee is Daisy (bearded collie and waggy tail). The atmosphere is very relaxed, many guests returning year after year. Great breakfasts, with home-produced or locally-sourced food, are served from the Aga in the kitchen/dining room whilst the award-winning local pub, the Wykham Arms, serves delicious suppers and is only 100 yards away.
You can expect peace and quiet, comfy beds, laughter, music, and lots of lovely walks to give you a good appetite. Gardening advice, cuttings and seedlings are all part of the treat
